50+ Asian American and allied organizations call on Congress to reform section 702
NEW YORK, NY — On September 14, 2023, the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund joined more than 50 Asian American and allied organizations in signing a letter sent to the U.S. Congress, expressing our strong opposition to the reauthorization of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) — unless comprehensive reforms are implemented. As it is currently written, Section 702 allows unfettered warrantless surveillance that encroaches on the privacy of everyday Americans.
