Esther Smith joined the AALDEF staff in 2023 as a Voting Rights Organizer to continue her work in voting rights advocacy. As part of the Democracy Team, Esther coordinates voter education outreach to inform and empower Asian American communities of their rights to language accommodations and voter assistance. She oversees AALDEF’s nationwide efforts to monitor poll sites and conduct exit polls to survey discriminatory harm and capture the collective voting experiences of Asian Americans. Prior to joining AALDEF, Esther served as a paralegal in the Federal Trade Commission and worked to protect our nation’s consumers and workers. Esther received her B.A. in Political Science and minor in Physics at the University of California, Berkeley.
